"My condition wasn't good today." But the No. 1 opponent in the league QS...The secret to fighting power is veteran Lee Jae-won?

I do my best, too, but I want to give all the credit to Lee Jae-won."

Ryan Weiss, a foreign pitcher of the Hanwha Eagles, started the game against the LG Twins of the "2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League" held at Hanwha Life Ball Park in Daejeon on Sunday. His final performance on the day was four hits (one homer) with three strikeouts, four walks and two runs during six innings. He led his team to a 3-2 victory and secured four wins (one loss) for this season.스포츠토토

Weiss was a little different from his predecessor. He was shaken up by running out runners in every inning except for the top of the fifth inning when he was dismissed due to three outs. Catcher Lee Jae-won and pitching coach Yang Sang-moon, who worked with the batter, also visited the mound several times to calm Weiss.

In the top of the third inning, Weiss hit a two-run home run of 125m over the left fence by Austin Dean with two outs and a runner on the first base, but he held on without collapsing. He beat LG's will to chase by overcoming the crisis with no outs in the top of the first inning, one out in the top of the second inning, one out and one out in the top of the fourth inning, and two out in the top of the sixth inning.

Although he was not 100% in condition, he played a quality start (less than 3 earned runs in 6 innings) and made a brilliant contribution to catching the league's leading LG.

Hanwha manager Kim Kyung-moon praised him after the game, saying, "Wice played his part as a starting pitcher for six innings."

Weiss, who was considered one of the best players, said, "We played well against a strong team called LG, and I want to give great meaning to our team's victory. Actually, I think the LG lineup was the best today (29th). I had a hard time against such a strong team. To be honest, my control and pitching conditions were not good, but I threw competitively on the mound with the mindset of 'Let's overcome it somehow.' "(The fielders) defended well and we were able to win because we had home runs," smiling

"Shim Woo-joon's home run was really important. The fielders did their part in terms of offense, and I also did my part as a pitcher. After Shim Woo-joon's home run, I didn't want to lose until the end, and I tried to do my part as much as possible," he said.

Weiss credits Lee Jae-won with working with the battery. Recently, Weiss has performed well in collaboration with Lee Jae-won, a veteran catcher with 20 years of professional experience. Lee Jae-won's rich experience has given Weiss a great boost.

When asked how much catcher Lee Jae-won's stake is in his good pitching, Weiss said, "It's 100%. I do my best, too, but I want to give all the credit to Lee Jae-won. It's because Lee Jae-won led well. Lee Jae-won's KBO League career has been decades. I really respect that because it's longer than my career in baseball."

The Hanwha Eagles built a solid starting lineup this season by Cody Ponce, Twice, Ryu Hyun-jin, Moon Dong-ju and Um Sang-baek. They have recently set the record of "eight consecutive wins as starting pitchers." Their harmony is a major boost to Hanwha's upward momentum.

Weiss said, "All five of them are gaining synergy by exchanging feedback through good-natured competition. I throw after Ponce in the starting rotation, but if Ponce throws well, I get stimulated as well. Such good-natured competition also gives me a lot of motivation. In that sense, all five starting pitchers are gaining a lot of strength and learning. It helps me to try to win as many games as possible," he said, referring to the good atmosphere of the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, the Hanwha Eagles will challenge the Winning Series against LG, the leading team in the league. Ryu Hyun-jin (two wins, one loss and 34 ⅓ innings of ERA of 3.15) will be in charge of the starting pitcher. On the other hand, LG will counter with Yoni Chirinos (four wins, one loss and 37 innings of ERA of 1.70 in six games).
